Why should actors, musicians, socialites, and media “personalities” be our nation’s celebrities (def.)? It is actually a chicken or the egg conundrum: do we celebrate vapid, egotistic tools because our society has been dumbed down, or is our society dumbed down because we celebrate vapid, egotistic tools?

I’m raising the bar. I am going to do whatever I can to celebrate people who are smart, educated, eloquent and passionate. This may from time to time include famous people, but I’ll be celebrating them for something substantive, not simply for their fame (see: Leonardo DiCaprio).

I call it the “smartening up” of America.

  1. Couple Things:

I’m pretty sure you only started this blog in order to work in references to chicken farming.

    How were your heroes cursed/foiled?

  2. Are you implying that I am one of the intellectuals to be celebretized for my efforts to promote urban chicken farming?

Evil Man: “You must pay the rent.”
Innocent Girl: “I can’t pay the rent.”
EM: “You MUST pay the rent.”
IG: “I CAN’T pay the rent.”
Our Hero: “I’ll pay the rent!”
    IG: “My Hero!”
    EM: “Curses! Foiled again.”
